Best place in town for fresh seafood delivered with a smile by a goddess of the sea with beautiful piercing eyes that melted my heart like fresh drawn butter. With God as my witness I promise to her that I will always hold my steamed seafood in my lap so as not to jack up my truck. No sense going anywhere else for fresh seafood. Have them steam your shrimp there and just take it straight home for supper. Crank up the spice!

This is one of the places I miss most when I moved from the area and I make sure to visit as much as possible when I'm in town. They have a variety of different sizes of fresh shrimp that you can take home and prepare or they will steam it for you while you wait. As of now, 2014, the steam price is $2 for 3pds and under and $3 for 3pds and above. (Well worth the additional cost). You also can't go wrong with the grouper, tuna or whatever they have in that day. And don't forget to try the home made key lime pies, gumbo or corn chowder. And who can stop eating the tuna dip. I also always bring my cooler and stop by on my way out of town to stock up! But if you want to take the steamed shrimp home - it has to cool off before it goes into the cooler. The gumbo freezes well! Keep in mind - DON'T touch the shrimp or fresh fish and bring CASH or a check. NO CC! And if you are taking your time to figure out what you want - the next person will be helped until your ready or the line will go out the door. Keep it moving and get in and get out and try not to eat your shrimp while driving!

I went in looking for fresh grouper filets and they had exactly what I wanted. They had several other kinds of fresh fish including tuna, salmon, and shrimp. I had never bought fresh fish before so the price of the fish was high but it could be that way everywhere here. The only reason they don't get 5 stars is because the lady working the register was not too friendly. Other than that, this place is good.

If the owner would only smile, I would give this place six stars. Such a stoic man for such a great place to visit every time we make it to Destin. Fresh seafood and the absolute best Key Lime Pie to be found--home made by the owner's wife. The only problem is that he is only open from mid-March through the end of September and we have no place to get our goods when his doors are shut. Caution: He only takes cash or checks. No credit cards accepted.

This is a great place to get freshly-caught Gulf shrimp - don't waste your time buying it in a supermarket. The employees are helpful and hospitable. For a dollar, they will steam your shrimp and add some spices. It's the best bargain around!

Skippers has good seafood. We made 2 stops here on our weekly vacation. The steamed shrimp is a staple for us. We tried the smoked tuna dip, yummy. The key lime pie was very good too. The owner is very stoic. Maybe someone could tell him a good joke to get him to smile.

Great shrimp! Great customer service too! I love how they will steam & season your shrimp for I think only $1! Located in a really small, nondescript location next to Winn Dixie, which makes it a bit harder to find, but its definitely worth going to if you are staying near by! Will have to try the key like pie next time. Hear its great! :)

Stopped by here last minute on our way out of town in October to buy our supplies for home and the sign said closed until March. WTF?? Was depending on this place.

The shrimp were so fresh and cooked perfectly. But it's the fantastic owners and staff that make this place so special. They are knowledgable (spot on for recommending how much is needed per person,) and kind. Moreover they provided what I consider the best customer service ever when they gave me my steamed shrimp and an ' I owe you' receipt for the next day when I accidentally forgot my ATM card and didn't have cash on me. It was a horribly rainy day with tons of traffic and they really showed me what good service is all about. I found some cash in my car and was able to settle up before I drove off. But they will have me as a long time customer from now on. Go visit these folks. They're great.

I definitely do not recommend Skipper's. My husband and I were going to to give them a second chance after our first questionable experience, but we shouldn't have bothered. Besides appearing unsanitary and keeping an indoor temperature that does not seem appropriate for a fish market (too hot) the employees are extremely rude. We by to pick up dinner for our family and when I asked the girl behind the counter one simple question she responded with a condescending answer, rather than just answering directly. I have no idea why anyone would go to Skipper's when the customer service and seafood at Blalock's is above and beyond what you will find here. If your looking for a friendly staff and quality seafood, this is definitely NOT your best bet.

My boyfriend and I picked up 1.5 lbs of medium-large shrimp (came out to around $18). We steamed them back at our rental with water, beer, Old Bay, and lemon. Picked up a baguette, corn on the cob, and a few other easy sides from Publix. Enjoyed it all sitting bayside with a few beers. A great DIY to break up the week of dinners out. Great variety of local fish and shrimp. They'll steam and season for you for $1 extra, but wouldn't you rather be adventurous and do it yourself? Sure you would.

Sadly we don't know how good the fresh fish was at Skippers. The young girl working the counter was so unwelcoming & condescending we left with nothing. Selection looked good but we were looking for unshelled oysters & they had none. Would've bough something however, if girl hadn't snapped at us & acted bothered by having to deal with us. By the way, we were the only potential customers in there, it was dead.

Skippers.... an extension of my kitchen! We always go in for the steamed shrimp, corn and crab bisque, tuna dip and key lime pie! THE BEST! The owners daughter is an extra treat... always remembering us from season to season and super friendly and efficient. When we have out of town guest, it's always our 'go to' after a day at the beach! Had shrimp tonight! YUM!

The stars are for the seafood, NOT the service. -40 stars for the very crappy lady behind the counter (who actually used the F word when speaking to her co-worker...good thing no kids with us). Prayers for her to find her dream job....this one is definitely not it....she treated us like she hated our guts for coming into the store. Scamp grouper was phenominal. Steamed Shrimp was Yummy & so were the scallops.

This place is locked on in my gps. Making it my first stop when I bring the family back to Destin. Great service and the shrimp were steamed and seasoned to order. Shhh! Secret tip: make sure to get a homemade key lime pie while you're there. Very delicious.
